Set up the bots
Six short steps · about five minutes
- A Discord server where you are the owner, or have Manage Server.
- About five minutes. Everything happens on this website and in Discord — no commands or files.
Sign in · 30 seconds
Sign in with your Discord account. You only see the servers you own or manage.
Sign in with DiscordAdd the bots · 1 minute
Open your server on the dashboard and click Invite Otto Grow, Invite Otto Guard and, if you want Otto Build to tidy your server, Improve my server. Discord opens with your server already picked: leave the permissions ticked and click Authorize.
Each bot works on its own, but they help each other: start with all three.
Right now the bots can only be added to servers we have invited. Sign in first; if a bot cannot be added yet, ask us via the contact link at the bottom of this page.
Put the bots high enough in your ranks · 1 minute
Discord only lets a bot manage ranks below its own. In Discord, open Server Settings → Roles and drag:
- Otto Grow above the ranks it hands out (for example Member and your level ranks);
- Otto Guard and Otto Build above the ranks they should look after.
Keep your own Owner/Admin rank at the very top. Click Save Changes.
Private channels? Let the bots in · only if you have them
Bots cannot see a private channel or category (such as 🔒 Staff) unless you add them — Discord does not let a bot add itself. Right-click the category → Edit Category → Permissions → + → pick the bot → turn on View Channel. Do this for the bots that should work there, for example Otto Guard for its log channel.
Not sure? Skip this step. The dashboard tells you exactly which channel needs it, and Otto Build can also get temporary full access for one job.
Switch things on · 2 minutes
Back on the dashboard, open each bot:
- Otto Grow → Welcome: pick the channel for welcome messages. Ranks: pick the rank new members get.
- Otto Guard → pick a log channel: Create a private #otto-log or Pick another channel. Backups start by themselves.
- Otto Build → Improve my server: click Check my server, tick the changes you want and click Apply (only the server owner can). Everything can be undone.
Check the green tick · 10 seconds
Each bot page shows ✅ Everything … needs is in place. If something is missing, click Add the missing permissions or follow the short note it shows. That is it — you are done.
Commands you can try
| Bot | Command | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Otto Grow | /rank /leaderboard | Your level, and the most active members. |
| Otto Grow | /poll | Start a poll. |
| Otto Guard | /kick /ban /timeout | For moderators: with a reason that goes in the log. |
| Otto Guard | /history /case | What happened with a member before, or one case by number. |
| Otto Build | /server | View, change or roll back a server Otto Build built for you. |
Something not working?
- A bot does not react. Check that it is online (the home page shows it), then steps 3 and 6.
- The dashboard shows a notice. It says what is wrong and what to click — usually a channel the bot cannot see, or a rank that is too low.
- You see an error code like
OT-7K3F9Q. Send it to us via the contact link at the bottom of this page and we will look it up. - Want to stop? Click Remove from server on the dashboard, or kick the bot in Discord. Your settings are kept, so adding it again brings everything back.
By adding the bots you agree to our Terms. Read what data they use in our Privacy Policy.
