Otto Grow guide
Generated from the bot itself, so it is always up to date
Otto Grow makes newcomers feel at home and keeps your members coming back. Everything below is on your dashboard: My servers → your server → Otto Grow. Each block is optional; switch on what you want.
Stats
A category at the top of your server with locked voice channels that show your numbers: members, channels and ranks. Updated every ten minutes.
Switching this off removes the channels again.
People, not bots.
Text and voice, without these counters.
Branding
Make the bot yours: its name and picture in this server only. Other servers keep seeing Otto Grow.
Off means Otto Grow with the Otto logo, whatever is filled in below.
Up to 32 characters. Leave empty for Otto Grow.
PNG or JPG, square, up to 256 kB. Leave empty for the Otto logo.
Welcome
What new members see the moment they arrive.
Leave empty to send no welcome message.
The standard text mentions your rules and the member number. Premium servers can write their own text instead.
Use {user} for the new member, {name} for their name, {server} for your server and {count} for the member number.
The card shows your server icon and buttons to your rules and the channels from your design.
The colour of the card and the welcome picture.
An https:// link to a wide image: on the card, and as background of the welcome picture.
A generated image with the newcomer's avatar, their name and the member number.
Someone who was here before gets 'Welcome back — your ranks are back where you left them'.
A private message with your rules and the channels to start in. People with closed DMs simply get nothing.
A staff channel: who left, after how long, with which ranks. Not public — in a small server that gets painful. With Otto Guard logging, this is skipped: Guard's log already shows who left.
Ranks
Which rank people get, and what happens when someone returns.
Members who were here before get their old ranks back instead.
With a wait, people who leave again within minutes (spam accounts) never get it. Returning members always get their old ranks back right away.
Levels
People earn XP by chatting — 15 to 25 per message, at most once a minute — and level up. Everyone can use /rank and /leaderboard. No level ranks and no sliders: one curve, the same one every levelling bot uses.
Switching this off keeps everyone's XP; switching it back on continues.
Leave empty to announce it in the channel where it happened.
Voice
Voice roles, and moving AFK people out of the way. The AFK check uses the AFK channel your server already has — set one under Server Settings → Overview if you have none.
Only people who muted and deafened themselves. Streaming or camera on never counts.
Celebrations
Little moments worth a message: the server reaching a member milestone, and someone boosting it.
A message at 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000 members and so on, naming the member who tipped it over.
Leave empty for the welcome channel.
A thank-you the moment someone boosts the server.
Leave empty for the welcome channel (or Discord's system channel).
Use {user} for the booster, {server} for your server, {boosts} for the number of boosts.
Polls
Discord's own polls, posted from here or with /poll. People vote with one click and see the results live.
People who can manage messages always can. Pick a rank to let more people start polls.
